Stalingrad, Episode #1

Stalingrad, Episode #1

It’s 1941 and the battle for survival on the eastern front begins now.

Episode 1 of the classic WWII novel

by Theodore Plievier.

Serialized right here on THE SURGICAL FICTION PODCAST.

Read by Edison McDaniels.

A shattering account of the destruction of the entire German Sixth Army in THE decisive battle of the European war. One of the most brutal and intense depictions of war ever written. Almost certainly the most important documentary novel to come out of WWII. Although fiction, it is closely based on the author’s own experiences during the war, and was heavily censored in the Soviet Union (although the novel is largely depicted from the German point of view). It’s relentless depiction of the senselessness of war is not for the faint of heart, but makes for MUST listening.
